Center for Biodiversity Research and Extension in Mindanao (CEBREM):

An Overview

The Center for Biodiversity Research and Extension in Mindanao (CEBREM) was established to protect and conserve the remaining biodiversity in Mindanao through research, training, education and community involvement. CEBREM is an integral part of Central Mindanao University (CMU) whose vision and mission call for environmental consciousness for a sustainable environment and humane society.

The CMU Board of Regents through Resolution No. 103, s 2011 institutionalized CEBREM on November 17, 2011. CEBREM is composed of six units: Biodiversity Research Unit, Biodiversity Extension and Public Awareness Unit, Biodiversity Education and Training Unit, Biodiversity Laboratories and Facilities Unit, University Museum and the Mt. Musuan Zoological and Botanical Garden.

A grant from the Department of Agriculture- Bureau of Agriculture Research (DA-BAR) financed the construction of the CEBREM Building which will house the equipment for biodiversity research and extension activities and serve as additional office space for the personnel of the Center as well as a venue for the training of different stakeholders.

As Central Mindanao University continues to work for academic excellence, this CENTER should be an agent to attain the lofty vision and mission to promote environmental awareness for a sustainable environment through the protection and conservation of biodiversity in Mindanao.
